Matt is a creative, hands-on learner who balances the demands of PhD research in leadership at Purdue University with a vibrant home life and a love for artistic expression. When he's not immersed in his academic work, he can be found raising chickens, writing, or crafting detailed tabletop dioramas. He cherishes time with his children—building LEGO creations together, sculpting with Play-Doh, or bringing stories to life by reading aloud with all the character voices. An avid traveler, Matt draws inspiration from new places and experiences, weaving them into both his scholarship and his creative pursuits.

As a child, Matt was interested in building entire worlds from whatever he had on hand—pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, and action figures became the raw materials for sprawling fantasy realms. His imagination thrived through writing fiction, especially in the fantasy genre, and his love for immersive storytelling grew alongside his enthusiasm for cosplay and role-playing inspired by worlds like Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings. As he got older, his creative passions expanded into collecting LOTR action figures and building intricate LEGO sets, particularly those with castle themes that echoed the mythic landscapes he'd always loved.
