Everyone has a unique Playsonality™.  Along with many of the world's most famous theorists like Sigmond Freud, Carl Jung, Sir Ken Robinson and even Karl Marx, we believe you were born with specific traits and gifts that make you unique. We call this your Play DNA™. We believe your Play DNA™ holds the key to unlocking your special talents because no one taught you how to play. You came into this world equipped and ready to do it.  Only you can discover and develop these gifts that are your ancestral skill set.

We also know there are things that influence each of us, both good and bad. These factors can make it harder to discover our special gifts. Things like school, friends, family, religion, culture, and society shape us as we grow. And these can help or hinder us on our journey to finding our special gifts.

We also know that all of society will benefit if each person is able to uncover and find their Play DNA™ and then use this knowledge to create an amazing life.

The team at Strategic Play™ Global has been working in the field of play since the 1980s, and we went on to develop the Playsonality™.  We based this assessment tool on theories from neurobiology, psychology, anthropology, sociology, and education.

We were curious about all ways we witnessed people showing up over the years, and why people would sometimes either struggle or flourish. We watched people in meetings, in coaching sessions, at workshops, and offsites. It was fascinating to see the variety of ways people interacted with others, solved problems, and made decisions. We were also interested in the ways we saw people lead, engage with teammates, and get into and out of conflicts. This curiosity led us to look for patterns and formulas that helped explain these levels of passion and engagement. Knowing that play is directly linked to how we learn, process information, make sense of experiences, and prepare for the unexpected, we developed the algorithm.

There are many personality tests out there. But this one is different. We put serious work into developing this one to help you understand something that psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, and others who are traditionally trained in psychology or psychometrics don't consider: It's about your Play DNA™.  You were born with a genetic code, a fingerprint that is unique to you. And it is yours to discover.

If you are a trained professional, we ask you to suspend judgment until you give it a try. You may just learn something new, something about affect and neurobiology that could change how you practice.

Yes. Better yet, let's do this together. We would love to come and demonstrate this program at your location. In the meantime, you can read through our testimonials from universities, corporations, consultants, and individuals. This is how we got started with the Miami University of Oxford, Ohio. One of the professors was curious so we tested the program with their first-year students. Now they use this program with all their students. This gives them a hand up as they begin their individual learning journeys, which will lead them to their unique career development plans.

Yes! We can offer group workshops, big or small.  Just let us know how many people are in your group, where you are located, and the date you want to hold the event. This information will help us develop a customized proposal for your team.

We sure do. In addition to English, we offer the assessment in  Spanish, French, Portuguese, and German.

You can share what you have learned about yourself with friends and family, of course.  But you cannot upload any of our materials to the Internet. You may not want to share everything, anyway. You alone decide which information is relevant to you and your situation.

We want everyone to discover their unique Play DNA™, but it is a little more work than a fast quiz. We need some information before you jump into the questions. We offer several options:

1. Schedule an online one-on-one meeting with our coach.
2. Hold a workshop at your location—we will come to you.
3. Join us at a community workshop—you come to us.

We suggest that anyone aged 14 or older can take the assessment. Why not younger? Children need the chance to discover their own Play DNA™ during unobstructed, non-adult controlled playtime. This is how young brains develop. And it is they way children develop their emotional and social IQs. They need the time to explore and discover their unique talents and traits, the part of their ancestral tool kit that may help shape who they become.  Free play is how children first learn to plan, organize, and develop empathy for others.

Absolutely. Before this website was live, several higher educational institutions were already using this program. They helped us prototype and test the process.  Your students will appreciate having the time to think about themselves, how they show up in the world, and how they might want to further discover their unique Play DNA™. This knowledge could prove invaluable to them as they plan their next steps forward.

This would not be an appropriate use. Everyone plays differently, and we need each Playsonality™ in order to create diversity of thought and behavior to build what we call creative tension. This great variety is what allows innovation to happen. Playsonality™  is a self-reporting assessment, and so it would be inappropriate to use it for anything other than individual and team self-discovery.

Yes. In fact, this is why we built the program. In 2024, we learned a startling fact from Gallup: Over 77% of the world's population at work is disengaged. We also know people are unhappy with their lives and would love to be reengaged, have a sense of belonging, and feel their organizations care about them. We also know that in Western cultures, a large percentage of the population is using substances, engaging in conflict, and struggling with the feeling that life has not supported their efforts. We also know that most adults have what we call play amnesia, and that they have lost the connection with their ancestral tool kit.  We foresee wide-sweeping benefits to rediscovering this birthright, with positive outcomes in workplaces around the globe.

The program's potential benefits are limitless. As we are explore what it means to be human, you will discover these qualities for yourself. Think of the assessment as a window into yourself. Through this window, you can also see the ways others may see you.  You know how people will sometimes comment: You don't seem like yourself today? How did they know?  They know because they have experienced you and can compare and contrast these interactions. Unfortunately, we experience ourselves differently. Wouldn't it be helpful if you had a better understanding of how others see and experience you? This would support you in all your daily activities and interactions with others.

The logo for both Playsonality™ and Play DNA™ belong to us at Strategic Play Global, and they cannot be used without our permission.

It states that you cannot share, alter, translate, upload, or copy our materials, systems, or methods.   We want everyone to 'play well' so we do have some rules in place. 

We are happy and eager to share our knowledge, but please respect our wishes and refer others to our training program if they want to learn more. We have a referral program in place that we can tell you about and when you refer, you'll get lots more than just good karma!
